The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to fill the role of Director of Global Engineering. This pivotal position demands an individual with a comprehensive engineering background, extensive experience managing large teams across different global regions, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions in the mobile app and web development space. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in steering our global engineering efforts, ensuring quality and on-time delivery of all sprints while fostering collaboration and growth within the team.

Responsibilities

Sprint Management:

• Take ownership of the end-to-end sprint process, from detailed pre-sprint planning to ongoing sprint management, reporting, and post-mortem analysis.
• Continually iterate and improve the sprint process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Help the engineering team develop technical documentation while preparing for the sprint
• Help the engineering team generate accurate and reliable ticket estimates
• Work with the product and platforms team to ensure that we are doing proper sprint preparation before the start of the sprint
• Review feature requests and designs to determine questions needed to ensure requirements are clear and elaborate

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead the hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day management of a global engineering staff which is today 20+ but will grow larger in scale and more diverse in geography over time.
• Develop and implement strategies for the continual growth and improvement of the engineering team.
• Empower and mentor team members to foster professional development and career progression.

Collaboration and Execution:

• Own and enhance collaboration with global interconnected teams to ensure successful execution and delivery of sprint results.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with broader organizational goals.
• Available to travel internationally as required
• Available for meetings/calls with the US team

• Lead by example as a hands-on leader, actively engaging in the technical aspects of projects.
• Exhibit a humble and collaborative approach, fostering an inclusive and positive team culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 15 years engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience managing large global, geographically diverse engineering teams (20+ members), and optimizing the global engineering function to meet evolving business needs.
• Proven track record in mobile app and web development.
• Expertise in IOS, Android, and JavaScript programming language.
• Previous experience in video calling development is a strong plus.
